BURY CABLE BS 7846 Mica XLPE SWA LSZH cable is intended for fixed 600/1000V power circuits where the project calls for an armoured, fire resistant construction with low smoke and halogen-free materials. The standard construction combines Class 2 copper conductors, mica glass tape, XLPE insulation, galvanized steel wire armour and an LSZH outer sheath.
Typical project settings include power stations, underground transport facilities, airports, hospitals, hotels, high-rise buildings and industrial installations. Select the cable for the specified circuit duty, route and environmental conditions. The construction tables cover 2-5 core power cable arrangements and additional multicore sizes.
For essential-services circuits, confirm the required fire test classification and the applicability of the supporting test report to the supplied cable. Cable selection must also account for current capacity, voltage drop, fault conditions, supports, terminations and the installation method.
Annealed copper conductors with Class 2 stranding.
Mica glass tape fire barrier with XLPE type GP 8 insulation in the standard construction.
Galvanized steel wire armour and an LSZH outer sheath for the specified armoured cable design.
Construction data for 2, 3, 4 and 5 cores, plus 7, 12, 19, 27 and 37 cores. Use the table row for the required size.
Rated thermal limits: 90°C maximum operating temperature and 250°C short-circuit temperature for 5 seconds. These are not fire survival ratings.

a Circular or compacted circular stranded conductor (Class 2).
b Shaped stranded conductor (Class 2).
c Cables with alternative armour wire size.
Specify voltage, number of cores, conductor cross-section, circuit duty and required length. Check the exact table row for dimensions and approximate weight.
Check load current, installation method, grouping, ambient temperature, voltage drop and short-circuit duty before choosing a conductor size.
The stated minimum bending radius is 8 times the overall cable diameter. Confirm routing space, gland selection, armour bonding and termination requirements for the installation.
Fire test references do not by themselves establish a classification or duration for every cable size. Confirm the required test conditions, classification and size coverage against the applicable report.
HEPR type GP 6 and crosslinked polyolefin type EI 5 are optional insulation alternatives. UV, hydrocarbon, oil, rodent and termite resistance are also options to agree before ordering.
For outdoor, buried, wet or chemically exposed routes, confirm the selected sheath option and installation protection. Use the project specification to determine suitability.
BS 7629-1 Mica and Silicone Rubber Screened Cable, 300/500V
For comparison where a screened lower-voltage mica and silicone rubber construction is specified.
BS 7629-1 Silicone Rubber Screened Cable, 300/500V
A separate silicone rubber insulated, screened construction; check its own data and fire test evidence.
BS 7211 XLPE LSZH Building Cable with CPC, 300/500V
For building wiring applications with different voltage and construction requirements. It is not a like-for-like replacement for this armoured fire resistant cable.
Yes. The standard construction uses a mica glass tape fire barrier and XLPE type GP 8 insulation. HEPR type GP 6 and crosslinked polyolefin type EI 5 are listed as options and must be specified separately.
The construction tables include 2, 3, 4 and 5 cores, together with 7, 12, 19, 27 and 37 cores. Available cross-sections, dimensions and approximate weights are given by individual table rows.
No specific CWZ, PH or fire survival duration is assigned here. Confirm any project-required classification against a test report covering the supplied construction and size.
LSZH describes low smoke and halogen-free material characteristics. A circuit-integrity requirement needs its own applicable fire test evidence; it is not established by the LSZH description alone.
Provide the voltage, core count, conductor size, quantity, installation method, operating environment and any required fire test classification. Include the project specification and any special sheath requirements.
